Street Kings

You may or may not believe me but i will say it anyway, i am a Keanu Reeves fan, in fact i always have been, i mean i dont watch pish like a walk in the clouds or that simply because he is in it, but still, i am a big fan, in fact i am a big fan. i think i wanted to be him to be honest, he had cool hair, i had posters of keanu on my walls and everything, but my cousin cut my hair at that time and it didn't matter what i told her i wanted my hair cut like, she ended up cutting it the way my mum told her...... wait a minute, Street Kings!

Ah Street Kings, thats right, the film i went to see! Well its good as it happens, really good, i enjoyed it a lot, a cop drama that pulls no punches, its violent, extremely violent, not in a cartoonish type manner, but actually quite in your face nasty violent. It follows our boy Keanu as the roguest (surely not a word) cop in a unit of rogue cops which is headed by the father figure of Forrest Whittaker, he does things off the record but gets results, the criminals pay, but his methods are questioned, and as a further character flaw, (is rogueishness a flaw) he is a racist, nice, so when his ex partner a black chap, is gunned down he is implicated, though its not just his racist tendancies which implicate him also the fact he was there, but as soon as we have came to terms that he is the bad cop it turns out he is actually the good guy as he wades through the murkiest police corruption to find out what is actually going on. Have i explained that well? as usual the answer is no, but hey fuck it, i went to see it not knowing what it was going to be a bout and i did fine so just accept that i said it was good and you will pick up the story on the way.

Now back to Keanu, he is good in this, it has always been a bone of contention for me the whole, Keanu Reves and good and acting are words which dont go together in a sentence, i feel that that is well below the belt, i mean the man did play Neo in such a way that you couldnt imagine anyone else play him and a world without Ted Theodore Logan is a world i dont want to live in, and johnny Mnomic? purleese. Plus he does the signature "shock and dismayed shake of the head and look at the ground move" tm which doenst get the recognition for its abailty to convey emotion it deserves. He is looking old mind you, i suppose the visible paunch might be a character trait but going by his face the haggared look is all his.

but maybe your not all Keanu fans, so i suggest you go see it and play spot the guy from tv, i will get you started with my list, House is in it, Sucre from Prison Break, the dad from Everyone Hates Chris, the DJ from Northern Exposure is in it, (well thats who he is to me, i have been informed that he was a boyfriend of the one with the blond curly hair and the big nose in Sex in the City) the list goes on.

Is it Sex in the City or Sex and the City? Actually, who cares, its pish.

No one is going to say this is the best film they have seen all year, not even a Keanu freak like me but it was a good two hours well spent and i do recommend it. Cop films are ten a penny i suppose but some always stick out in your memory, the last that stuck out for me is Narc and if that floated your boat then Street kings should to as i have just added it to my list.
