Time Lapse Photography

Splice loves certain things more than others. Movies is in there. Football is in there. Baseball is also in there, and let me just say this the lesser known love of (maybe just this splice blogger) is time lapse photography. Just cant get enough of it. Al those ones on like hige super motorways which see the sun coming up and setting and all the car lights for example. Love it.

Which brings me to this, which is time lapse photography but also incorporates baseball. But like this its cinema right?

World Series Time-Lapse by Robert Caplin from Robert Caplin on Vimeo.

It plays like an old Russian montage film which probably is the point.

I like it.

Kevin Smith in Blighty Watch

Kevin Smith is gonna be on Newsnight Review tonight with Kirsty Wark. Kirsty Wark is a celebrity Killie fan of sorts. Think they are going to discuss the rise of cult fiction to mainstream or some other such stuff. if your in Britain you can watch it on TV realtime tonight or online on the iplayer for a week after or if your not in the UK you can do whatever your (illegal?) thing is to watch it.

Me, i am getting it taped, i will see it in 3 weeks!

that is all.

Jesus

There's been a lot of talk about the best filmed Jesus in the run up to today, the anniversary of Jesus' death by chocolate consumption, and none of them have mentioned this one, so I will:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Well i recieved a email this morning which seemed to offer me something frankly wonderful!

"Bring the X-Men Origins Wolverine Premiere to Your Town"

it said and it had me interested, i could potentialy have Hugh Jackman walking up the red carpet in Kilmarnock, Ryan Reynolds could have sly fag (i have no idea if he smokes) while looking out onto the Burger King and KFC restuarants which are situated accross from the Odeon complex, probably wryly thinking that there is all sorts of irony in the fact that the other building near these two diners is a Fitness First gym.

Sadly this can never happen as its an America only promotion, it requires a zip code and sadly i only have a post code and so cant enter my terific post industrial home town Kilmarnock, Ayrshire in bonny Scotland.

i could easily have left it there but i didnt,

so i found a zip code to use and use it i did, i found a small town in America called Kilmarnock (pop. around 1500) and found out its zip code, from there i entered the competition and i implore you all to do the same.

this is the website to go to folks and when you click to vote using the great big button at top centre of the screen enter you name adress and email and the state is VA, and the zip code is 22482. Readers of Splice i implore you, Kilmarnock deserves this honour, regardless of where in the world i appears to be. We can do it!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine comes out in the UK at the end of this month and i look forward to it immensely. though the title sucks all different kinds of ass.

Do you know i never even checked if Kilmarnock, VA has a cinema!

Jim Bond: One Month On

I for one am delighted that the webspace that is SPLICE seem to be a haven for people who dont particularly like James Bond. It is, effectively, a Quantum of Solace from Bond if you will. (see what i did there?)

I suppose this has broken the silence so i will enlighten you to my experiences of Bond while here and be done with it.

In total i have seen five Bond films. In the order; Goldeneye, Tommorow Never Dies, Dr No, From Russia with Love and The World is Not Enough. Goldeneye was surprisingly good, Tommorow Never Dies was ok so i thought i would watch them from the beginning, Dr No and Russia were Love then i gave up, "fuck it" i thought, i just dont get it, what is it about Bond that everyone (some of my mates especially) cream their shorts about? The final nail in the coffin was actually spending money at the cinema to see The World is Not Enough. Utter tripe.

I have seen some of the props from the films, the motor that goes under water or something, some other car that does something unbelievable, a gun probably, er, it was a wee while ago now that i was in Florida but i did see it.

And thats it, if i am honest then i will admit that i have hankered slightly to see Casino Royale but so far havent followed through on it. Maybe i wont.

This is all very meandering, just felt that something had to be said about Bond, James Bond and this is all i can offer, so bearing in mind i havent seen all the films, i have heard most of the songs and in all Bond based things people pick out their favourite villain, favourite Bond, favourite song, yadda yadda yadda. So my favourite Bond out of the 2 i have seen is Brosnan, favourite film: Goldeneye. the song from this the newest film has slowly grown on me and personally i think its a cracker so its my favourite Bond Theme. There we go, the dirty deed is done, Bond has been broached and i have came out the other side. So go wash your hands and then come back and enjoy Jack White and Alicia Keys.

Transmorphers

The Asylum makes films that are basically DVD cash in for the latest blockbuster hitting the cinema, Snakes on a Plane became Snakes on a Train, I am Legend, I am Omega and Transformers became Transmorphers. you get the drift.

by the title you may think this is a review it isnt, i havent watched it. it is however a wee link to something funny. The imdb page for the film has a forum type bit at the bottom, i read it and chuckled so thought i should pass it on. what has happened is a group of students have decided to do a riff track type thing on htis film and ecided to use imdb to tell the director, now maybe they were just doing it for a laugh or they knew he would bite i dont know but he did and does and still does bite every time, sticking up for himself and his film while calling names to the "trolls" as he puts it. his name is Leigh Scott, i am pretty sure i should say he is a dick but i dunno, i kinda like his stance, take a bow bud. Splice salutes you.

first a sample of the action then the link

heres the link

Brilliant eh?

Hong Kong Legends; Though an ex Prefix may be added after this

A lovely accompaniment to the Splice' guide to acting i think you will find.

Questions that must be asked are thus:

1. Is Sammo Hung turning in his grave (if he was dead)?

2. When is the Hong Kong Legends special edition DVD coming out with the commentary from Hong Kong Cinema Expert Bey Logan?
