It's out! Pop over to their site and have a look. Here's the promo thingy:
Shamefully at this time it looks as if anyone outside North America can't get this. Fingers and toes crossed that the situation changes somehow!

As much as I love the old MST3K days, this TITANIC project simply costs too much. A burned DVD in a sleeve for $15? Come on. I would consider paying $10-$12 for a pressed DVD in a substantial case with extras. I buy every PIXAR movie for about that much. I won’t be buying this project at this price.
I predict piracy will damage sales to the point at which Joel and company will throw in the towel early. There won’t even be 12 episodes of CINEMATIC TITANIC completed. A lower price would have been so much more realistic. If they sold 10,000 copies at $8, each writer/performer might clear a couple thousand an episode.
That’s not great show-biz money, but aside from Joel it’s probably more than the other people involved have been making lately.
It's certainly an interesting point you raise, especially with the Film Crew DVDs not that old yet. It's a wonder if the CT crew could have found a distributor to put out proper DVDs. I'd imagine Shout Factory would be interested since it now looks like The Film Crew is definitely no more, especially judging by Bill's comments on the recent Rifftrax Blog Q+A. Thanks to a surrogate in the States I will be getting this now for around £10 ($20). I am quite happy with the price, but I do agree that it is a bit steep for a DVD-R.
I'll agree $15 is a little steep. But consider Amazon's selling the original Brain of Blood at $10 to download/$18 for a DVD. $12 for a Pixar DVD happens after they've been in theaters, on cable and pay-per-view, and I'm thinking has been out on DVD for a while and turned a healthy profit a while ago.
Joel' a clever guy and has likely done his math and figured out that they can survive at this price point. He probably knows how many sets Rhino is moving at $40 and up (at release) for 4 old episodes, definitely knows what they'll get per download and DVD from EZTakes, and despite the double snafu this time, they can make a reasonable estimate of their production costs. Their break even point is probably a pretty conservative fraction of Rhino's sales.
Unless this is a major unbelievable let down on the quality front, I predict enough fans will decide that it's worth it for new material from this group and it will last at least the 12 movies they've already negotiated for. But, as always, there'll be some 'fans' who make up a story for themselves wherein the high price justifies their getting it without paying.
Just like to point out that the DVD is in fact a real DVD it just doesn't come in a case. managed to get it through a surrogate based in the USA who ordered it from eztakes and sent it to me for the exact cost of the DVD and postage only. No capitalising on a non-Yank's misfortune there, unlike the fuds on eBay charging more than the cover price plus $75 postage. Shamefully someone will be stupid enough to pay that as well!
